Our History

My parents had always been inclined to feed stray animals, but our full-force care for them started with a tragic story involving our pet rabbit.

About 15 years ago, we brought home a rabbit & named her Tuktuk. We were in absolute love with her. One morning, the door was accidentally left open, and three stray dogs entered our home, chasing and scaring Tuktuk. She didn’t survive the trauma. We were shattered, especially my little brother and I, who were barely eight years old at the time. Pain, shock, and trauma built up. We were extremely upset with the dogs.

It was later that we realized everything happens for a reason. Before Tuktuk, we had never paid such close attention to stray dogs. With time, we accepted the fact that animals live as prey and predators—that’s how nature (Prakriti) has built them. It’s not their fault. How we react and respond to them decides our character and fruits to actions (Karma)

We realized that the dogs in our colony were living in pain, hunger, thirst, and lack of love and attention were a few of the many problems they faced unspokenly.

My parents started by feeding the dogs in our street. Gradually, we realized this pain is not limited to just dogs and extends to other animals on roads like cows, bulls, donkeys, pigs, birds, etc.

My parents, Mr. HK Sinha and Mrs. Dolly Sinha have been a constant source of compassion, empathy, care, and love for these animals. They have been feeding, treating, and adopting strays ever since. They taught us to try and alleviate their suffering. Since my brother and I grew up around stray animals, we understood their pain.

Our Present

We are feed and treat as many stray animals as our resources allow. However, our efforts are limited. Over time, we were constantly encouraged by both favorable and adverse situations to establish an NGO. Last year, we did just that, founding the Prakriti and Karma Foundation. While we now have a name, the challenges remain the same. There is still plenty of pain and suffering among stray animals, and the four of us can only do so much. We aspire to expand our reach to help many more animals in need. We aim to connect with like-minded people who care about stray animals and want to join us in our mission to care for them.

The phase of COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic brought indescribable pain to humanity, and similarly, the voiceless animals suffered immensely. During the lockdown, street animals were left helpless as shops and food stalls shut down, depriving them of their usual sources of food; mostly trash. Around a hundred dogs would gather when we tried to feed them. Despite our continuous efforts day and night, it was never enough, and we always returned home with empty buckets and heavy hearts.Fortunately, we met many generous people who shared our concern for these voiceless animals. Their support, both material and emotional, helped us expand our reach to a lot more helpless strays.

We plan to launch various campaigns focused on awareness, education, feeding, treatment, and distribution of necessities. Our goal is to rekindle the long-lost harmonious relationship between humans and our co-existing species, ensuring a better future for all of us.

Please Note!

By the word ‘seva’, we mean feeding, treatment, and all good done for the welfare of stray animals
